Olivia T and Elle-May from Wigton Moor U13s participated in the trials for the West Riding U14 squad.
I spoke to both girls before the trials and told them to enjoy the sessions and not to worry too much also making them aware that it would be very difficult to get in to the squad as they were up against U14 girls as well as their own age group.
I told both girls if they didn't get selected, not to be too disappointed has there will be many more opportunities come their way.
I am delighted to announce that Olivia T has been chosen to represent the West Riding U14 squad of 18 players and i would like to congratulate her from myself and all at Wigton Moor JFC.
Olivia's achievement must not be underestimated because they were 40 girls at the trials and the standard was very very high in fact i wouldn't have liked the job of selecting the players.
Unfortunatley Elle-May didn't get selected this time although i felt she played very well in fact you were the only forward to track back and defend for your teammates the effort you showed was tremendous making several crunching physical tackles which i think is needed at U14 level and above but the position she trialed for was the hardest position to get selected for as she was up against quality forwards from U14 1st division sides , so having explained this to Elle-May she said "oh well, i will try again next season" which i think is a fantastic attitude to have, Elle-May was also delighted that Olivia had got into the squad too.
So congratulations to Olivia T and to all the other girls who got selected for the West Riding squad and to the 22 players who didn't get selected here's a little saying
"if at first you don't succeed try and try again" |
