It is hard to understand that the same team that had battled so well to take the game to Tingley two weeks ago and come away with a well earned point, could perform so differently against Burley on Saturday.

It started as it usually does with us, with a slow and lacklustre opening 15 minutes, but by the end of that we were 2-1 ahead and looking set to go on from there. Two very well finished goals from Amy had overturned an early goal from Burley. However what followed is hard to work out.

Burley responded with three quickfire goals to end the half 2-4 ahead, and then ran in another 4 in the second half to finish 2-8 victors!!

I think it was a combination of things that lead to this. Firstly virtually everyone was below their game, and althouth Issy, Georgia and the never stop running Amy put in good performances, too many players under performed. Secondly, Burley were really up for it and I think played far better than they did when we only lost 3-1 with 8 players!!

I also think I was guilty of underestimating the strength of Burley. I made the call to change the 4-4 formation that worked so well against Tingley to 3-5 as i thought they would be weaker and also we only had three natural defenders available!! In the end it was this that contributed to our defence being over-run on too many occasions. The girls played the formation we asked so it wasn't their fault, and their heads had already dropped  before we could change it around.

Anyway we move on to Greetland away for next Sunday morning.  I know already of three who cannot be at the game leaving just 11 possible,  so it is essential that the rest of you do your best to come otherwise it's going to be another hard one. Please let me know as soon as you can about availability, and remember PURPLE kit and I am using the minibus as per the arrangements on my text message.

On paper we should be able to get a result, but they are getting better and  have been strengthened by the return from  Yorkshire Amateurs last week of the really strong winger Dani who played so well against us up at Amateurs back in the Autumn!!! It will be tough, and we will play 4-4 and hope for the result we are capable of getting.
